The Afterglow Method: How to Feel Your Life Again

October 22, 2026

The Afterglow Method is how I teach successful people to feel their lives again, from the body up and the mind down. Breath, movement, sound and dance bring feeling back into the body. Spirituality, meditation and identity work shift what you believe. A weekly and monthly rhythm, kept with other people, makes the change last.

I created the Afterglow Method at Energy of Creation for people whose lives look good on paper and don't feel that way. Maybe you hit the goal and felt almost nothing. Maybe you're at dinner drafting tomorrow's email in your head. Nothing is broken, so it's hard to name. This page explains what the method is, how it works, and where to start.

What is the Afterglow Method?

The Afterglow Method is a practice system for feeling your life again: more presence, more pleasure, more aliveness, with your ambition intact. It works in two directions at once, from the body up and from the mind down, and it lasts because it becomes a rhythm you keep with other people.

The outcome has a name too. I call it the Afterglow Effect: a life that feels as good as it looks on paper. The method is what we teach and practice. The effect is what you get to live in.

Here's the method in one line, the way I say it in every room I lead:

Feel it from the body up. Know it from the mind down. Live in the afterglow.

Who is the Afterglow Method for?

The Afterglow Method is for high achievers who built the business, the reputation and the life, and can no longer feel the pleasure of it. It's for founders, owners and leaders who are productive but not really present, and who know there's another level without knowing how to reach it.

You might recognize yourself in a few of these:

  • You hit the revenue goal and felt a flat "okay, what's next?"
  • Your relationships, your body and your creativity have all gone a little flat.
  • Most wellness advice tells you to slow down, and you don't want less. You want to feel more.
  • You're surrounded by people and still carry the big decisions alone.

If that's you, nothing is wrong with you. You were adapting. The version of you that needed to prove, protect and push got you here. It just can't feel what it built. That's the pleasure gap: the distance between how your life looks and how it feels.

Why did I create the Afterglow Method?

I created it because feeling has been my life's work long before it was my job. I was born in the Bronx and moved so often as a kid that the only home I could carry was learning, and the feeling that comes with it.

Here is the true moment underneath all of it. When I was young, I watched people close to me go numb when life got heavy. And I made a decision early: I would never die without feeling the pleasures of this life. Feeling was a survival skill for me before it was ever a philosophy.

That decision shaped everything that came after. I grew a wellness program across a company, from one office to teams in multiple states. Then I trained in conscious breathwork, yoga and ecstatic dance: a 500-hour yoga teacher training in Rishikesh, ecstatic dance DJ training in Bali, and certification as a SOMA Breath coach. I spent years in spiritual study and practice, including a Saturday study group I've co-led for more than a year and a half. The Afterglow Method is how I bring all of it together.

How does the Afterglow Method work?

The Afterglow Method works through three parts that meet in the middle: body up, mind down, and rhythm. Each part does something the others can't, which is why one practice on its own rarely sticks. At Energy of Creation, the path through the method moves in three phases: Regulate (settle the body first), Reclaim (turn that steadiness into your everyday baseline) and Rise (expand from a settled state). You can enter at any phase.

From the body up: breath, movement, sound and dance

The body is where feeling comes back first. Conscious breathwork, movement, sound and ecstatic dance change your body's state, and that changes how you feel and think. You can't always think your way into presence. You can breathe your way there, move your way there, or let music carry you there.

In practice this looks simple: a few minutes of slow, steady breathing before a big decision, a song you move to between meetings, a sound bath that lets your attention drop out of your head, or dancing in low light until you forget to check the time. Many people notice they feel more settled, more awake and more like themselves afterward. Regulation, your body's ability to return to center, is how this works under the hood. It's never the goal by itself. The goal is aliveness and the kind of emotional well-being you can actually feel.

From the mind down: spirituality, meditation and identity

The mind-down side changes what you believe, which changes how your body responds. This is where spirituality, meditation and identity work come in, using themes of connectedness, releasing illusions and miracles. Spirituality here is welcome and never required, and it isn't religion. Some people call that bigger connection God, the Universe, Love, Source or their Higher Self. Use whatever word lets you feel it.

Identity sits at the center of it. You act from who you believe you are, not from what you want. So we look gently at the beliefs and roles you picked up along the way, the ones you now run without choosing, and we ask a different question: not "why am I like this," but "what is this part of me protecting?" You keep everything that served you. You get to choose the rest.

Rhythm: what makes it stay

Rhythm is what turns a good moment into a new normal. A weekly and monthly practice, kept with other people, moves a shift from a state, to a trait, to an identity. One retreat or one powerful session can open a door. A rhythm is what keeps you walking through it.

This is also why community matters so much in the method. We change by witnessing each other. When people share real wins and real honesty in a room that gets it, the change sticks.

What are the six principles of the Afterglow Method?

The Afterglow Method rests on six principles. Each one is a belief we practice, not a rule to obey.

  1. Feeling is home. Feeling is where you live, not a reward for finishing the work.
  2. Identity sits at the center. Who you believe you are shapes your relationships, health, creativity and business.
  3. Change the environment, not just the willpower. People change faster when their surroundings change with them.
  4. We change by witnessing each other. Shared wins and shared honesty make change stick.
  5. Nothing is wrong when it gets dark. A heavy stretch is part of the process, not a sign of failure.
  6. Integration creates rhythm. Body up and mind down meet in the middle, and a rhythm beats one-off experiences.

How is the Afterglow Method different from other wellness approaches?

The Afterglow Method is different because it works on the body and the mind together, inside a live community, with a rhythm instead of scattered one-off sessions. Most approaches treat one piece: a breathing app, a mindset course, a weekend away.

Most approaches The Afterglow Method
One piece at a time (mind only, or body only) Body up and mind down together
An app or a recording Live practice with founders who lead every session
A one-time breakthrough A weekly and monthly rhythm
Advice to slow down Feeling more, with your ambition intact
Tips to follow alone A room of people who witness each other

Regulation is never the opposite of ambition. Plenty of the people I work with want their next level. The method helps them reach it from a settled, alive state instead of from pressure.

What does the Afterglow Method feel like in a normal week?

In a normal week, the Afterglow Method feels like small, real moments of presence that add up. It isn't a dramatic overhaul of your calendar. It's a rhythm you can keep on a busy Tuesday.

Here's a simple shape it often takes:

  • Daily: a short practice to land in your body, like slow breathing, a few minutes of movement, or music that shifts your state.
  • Weekly: a live call or study session with people who get it.
  • Monthly: a longer gathering where you go deeper and celebrate each other's wins.

Try this right now, from the body up. Sit comfortably. Breathe in slowly through your nose for a count of four, and breathe out for a count of six. Do that five times. Then check in with yourself and ask one question: "What would feel good today?" Ease off if you feel dizzy at any point, and breathe normally. That's the method in miniature: body first, then the mind, then a choice you can repeat tomorrow.

What does the Afterglow Method not do?

The Afterglow Method is coaching, embodied practice and community. It is not therapy or medical care, and it isn't a replacement for either. It can sit alongside therapy beautifully. If you're in crisis, or something feels like more than a coach can hold, please reach out to a licensed professional first.

It also doesn't promise a one-time breakthrough. Change comes from continued practice. And it never asks you to want less. You don't have to want less. You get to feel more.

Where do I start with the Afterglow Method?

Start by finding your pattern. The free Ecstatic Lifestyle Assessment is seven questions and takes about two minutes. It shows you which pattern you're living in right now and the first step that fits it.

Frequently asked questions

Who created the Afterglow Method?

Destinē, co-founder of Energy of Creation, created the Afterglow Method. It brings together years of conscious breathwork, yoga, ecstatic dance, sound and spiritual practice, and it's taught at Energy of Creation with co-founder Victoria Thompson.

What is the Afterglow Effect?

The Afterglow Effect is the outcome the Afterglow Method points to: a life that feels as good as it looks on paper. It means more presence, pleasure and aliveness in the life you already built.

Is the Afterglow Method the same as nervous system regulation?

No. Nervous system regulation is part of how the Afterglow Method works, especially on the body-up side, but it isn't the headline. The method also includes mind-down identity and spiritual work, and a rhythm kept with other people.

Do I have to be spiritual or religious to practice it?

No. Spirituality in the Afterglow Method means connectedness, releasing illusions and miracles, and it's always optional. Energy of Creation shares universal truths, not a religion, and people of every background practice with us.

How long does it take to feel a difference?

Many people notice a shift in their state during their first practice. Turning that shift into a trait takes rhythm: weeks and months of practice with other people, not one session.
